Hammond received her PhD and MSW from The Ohio State University and her BA from The University of Toledo. Her areas of research include the treatment of and recovery from substance use disorders, the impact of adverse childhood experiences on individuals and communities, and compassion fatigue in professionals. Schmidt Outstanding Young Alumni Award from the University of Toledo in 20007, the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Associate Award in 20 and was the MSW Graduate of the Year in 2000. Hayden Award in 2008, Outstanding Doctoral Student Teacher in 2008, the Edward H. Dana Award of Excellence in 2011, the Ernest E. She received the Outstanding Community Lecturer Award in 2012, the Randall M. She was inducted into the College of Social Work’s Hall of Fame in 2020 with a Distinguished Career Award. She is a Community Lecturer in the College of Social Work and in the Glenn College of Public Affairs at The Ohio State University. Prior to launching Mighty Crow in 2012, she was the Director of Research and Grants Administration at a long-term treatment center for women and their dependent children. Most people want to know how we got the name, “Mighty Crow.” The inspiration began with a poem written by Michael Kocinski, II and a character named “Keigh the Mighty Crow.” This resonated with Jake Hammond, an amateur birder, who loves crows and appreciates their unique abilities and habits throughout the world. We have worked in the Clintonville/Worthington area of Columbus, OH since 2016 and moved into our current location on W.
